The houndstooth-style ceiling
The houndstooth-style ceiling in this unique New Zealand home was designed to evoke a traditional Maori cloak. It’s a warm, woven canopy that shelters the house and family. Chevrons of red cedarwood are complemented by paler kauri-wood wall cladding. For the ceiling were used an incredible carpenter who cut the cedar by \”feeling”, not measuring. If you want to create a similar effect in your home, you’ll need to commission a skilled woodworker to cut and install the design.
