Dark floors have a grounding result, and to some extent make the white of the cabinets lighter by contrast. The sensation of “light” or “dark” in a room is affected generally by the vertical areas in the room (wall surfaces and cupboards) and never as much by the horizontal floor. Dim horizontal areas increase the space. They generate it feel bigger by switching the eye across the room and by reading like a “negative” to all of the different “optimistic” area. It’s exactly why plenty of cafes and cubs coloring the ceiling black. It makes it feel larger than it truly is because it fades away.
